Why is becoming a Monthly Shelter Supporter so important?
Monthly Shelter Supporters are Marshmallow Animal Shelter's most loyal and important donors. By making automatic monthly contributions, they provide a much needed dependable and steady source of income to help fund the shelter's operations. Marshmallow Animal Shelter serves as the pound for Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Lake Park, Audubon, Callaway, Mahnomen and Waubun. We also accept owner surrendered and stray animals within Becker County as space permits.
On average, we are responsible for the daily care of approximately 70 cats and 20 dogs. We are a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and rely solely on donations to provide this care, which can be for an extended period of time while our resident animals await their forever homes.
Marshmallow Animal Shelter strives to reunite lost animals with their owners. When reunification does not occur, our focus turns to the adoption of our animals to their forever homes. This involves spaying and neutering our animals and providing them with any other veterinary care as needed, which all costs money. The consistent funding that is provided by being a Monthly Shelter Supporter allows us to continue this important work and positively impact the hundreds of cats and dogs that pass through our door every year. We work hard to reunite lost pets with their humans. When we can't reunite, we work with shelters and rescues in the state and surrounding region to find homes for abandoned or unwanted companion animals.
